Who can help?

Often it helps to talk to someone in person about your care options. They can advise you about what services are available and how you can get them.

You can call a Commonwealth Carelink Centre, a central point for information about community care and aged care homes. Commonwealth Carelink Centres have a national toll free telephone service, which can help you find information about services in your local area.

Take me to the Commonwealth Carelink website

Your doctor will be able to advise you about community care services and aged care homes, and can help you make choices about what service will meet your needs. They can also refer you to an Aged Care Assessment Team who will talk with you about what services you may need and what is available in your area.

An advocacy organisation can also help to advise you. For example, they can help you decide which aged care home or community care service would be right for you. Take me to Advocacy Services under the Contacts tab

Service providers - of aged care homes and community care services - can also talk to you about your care options. Take me to a list of certified aged care homes in the Contacts section.

Or call the Aged and Community Care Information Line on 1800 500 853 to get contact details for aged care homes in your area.
