Information for Carers Here carers can find information the information they need, help and support. Although caring can be rewarding it can also be very demanding. These links to a range of information and help available for carers. National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP) The National Respite for Carers Program is comprised of several initiatives designed to support and assist relatives and friends caring for people at home, who are unable to care for themselves, possibly because of chronic illness, disability or frailty. NRCP/Carelink Funded Organisations This link contains details of the organisations funded through the recent National Respite for Carers Program, the Carer Information Support Program and the Commonwealth Carelink Program announced by the Minister for the Minister for Ageing, Hon Julie Bishop MP on 24 June 2005. Day Therapy Centres The Day Therapy Centres offer a range of services for older people in a community setting, including physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, podiatry and other therapy services. Employed Carers Funded Organisations Here you can find a list of organisations funded through the Employed Carers Program. These initiatives were announced by the Minister for Ageing, Senator the Hon Santo Santoro on 7 February 2006. Respite Care Here you'll find links to information about services providing respite care for carers, whether it is in their own home, in the wider community, or in a residential aged care facility. Carer Information Pack This Carer Information Pack provides practical information for carers. The pack was produced by the Aged and Community Care Division of the Australian Department of Health and Ageing Financial Support for Carers Here you'll find information about the Carer Allowance and Carer Payment, which is administered by Centrelink. Relevant Legislation There are two pieces of legislation which the Carer Support Section of the Fedral Department of Health and Ageing helps to administer. The first part relates to the Domiciliary Nursing Care Benefit (DNCB) and the second is the Aged Care Act (1997), relating to residential respite care.
