About Us

Retirement & Aged Care in Australia (RACA) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to addressing the needs and interests of Australians aged 55 and older. Through information and education, advocacy and service, we seek to enhance the quality of life for all by promoting independence, dignity and purpose.

Who We Are
Founded by Director, Michael Morton B.Ec, AIPM, RACA today represents more than 25,000 organisations and service providers who specialise in retirement, ageing, anti-ageing and aged care. About half of those organisations are providers of accommodation for retirement living and aged care.

The collective strength of our membership enables us to serve the broader community, improving the quality of life for people as they get older. We know that healthy ageing requires an early start; therefore, our social responsibility extends to all segments of Australian society. It also includes sharing strategies and information with organisations across the world that are involved with the issues of global ageing.

What We Do

Regardless of where visitors to this web site are on life's continuum, they find in RACA the resources and strength to help them make their own choices, reach their goals and dreams, and make the most of their lives after 50. Our vision is to excel as a dynamic presence in every community by shaping and enriching the experience of ageing for each member and for society.

To bring that vision to life, we focus our efforts and resources in four areas:

   • Health and Wellness
   • Economic Security and Work
   • Long-term Care and Independent Living
   • Personal Enrichment
   • How We Work

We serve our members, advertisers and society primarily in four ways:

   • By providing quality information and education
   • By providing opportunities for service and involvement in their communities
   • By making available a wide range of products and services to our members

How We Reach Out
RACA manages this Web site, which contains information and links as well as products and services that are of use for many of the visitors to this web site and RACA members. RACA also develops new products and services that reflect the changing needs and interests of RACA members.

Among the programs RACA is developing or currently manages are: short and long-term care, car/home-owners and life insurance, discounts and assistance to install computers, broadband and e-mail services, and savings on prescription pharmaceutics, dental, eye-health services and eye wear products. Additionally, RACA helps with situations ranging from finding a nursing home, to selecting suitable holiday accomodation, to providing easy access to solicitors at reduced fees. RACA also responds to the broad and diverse needs of people who are aged 55+ with discounts on hotels and motels, car hire, airlines, cruises, holiday packages, entertainment and consumer goods.

Our newest outreach program - launched this year - is a collaborative national effort with a wide range of outcomes that will better prepare people for independent living, long-term care and end-of-life care. We are also launching a pilot program to promote physical activity for healthy ageing.
